Men’s Perception of Marriage

Marriage may generally be characterized as a culturally and frequently legally recognized relationship between or among spouses which creates rights and duties between or among them, as well as between them and their offspring and between them and their spouse in-laws. It is a bonding institution where interpersonal ties are frequently sexually accepted or sanctioned. However, the marriage view is influenced by a range of factors, including religion, culture, time, and the social setting of the people.

Contextual

Marriage is a complex matter, continually evolving and integrated into all spheres of human life. Putting into context the role and beliefs of men in marriages is complicated since there is no generalizing issues-based platform to wrap it up. Opinions are generated through interactions, environmental settings, ideas, and traditions that are not common to all men. However, men have innate expectations of marriages that influence their choice of partners.

Expectations

Most men expect that marrying a spouse of the opposite gender should guarantee them posterity through the siring of kids. Besides, it also gives them conjugal rights and a confidant to share their private lives with. Nevertheless, men expect to be liable for supplying and protecting the family in its entirety for the life of the marriage. In these, men expect mutual respect and submission from the wife and children and a sense of social belonging. Even though collective decisions run family affairs, men always expect to be the overall family leaders who usually take general responsibilities.

Recently, the evolution of marriage has given the possibility of LGBT unions, which are contrary to the traditional sacrificial of individual happiness, joining people for their pleasures. Many of these unions only last so long as the partners are happy with their associations. This explains the rampant cases of separations and divorces even in what is otherwise thought to be the proper marriage setup as described above. This shows the complexity of marriage.

Challenges and the Future

The complexity of marriage still puts it in a limbo of rhetoric, primarily because its complication arises from the natural human life. Men’s beliefs about marriage result from their contextual setups of cultures and demographical factors. This puts marriage in a continuous exploration of human social theories going into the future.

Finally,

Men’s belief in marriage is inexpressible in absolute statements. Marriage is affected by factors beyond human control and occurs in distinct locations and situations across the globe. However, the information age has reduced the world to a global village where information is shared instantaneously, giving marriage a new dimension. Technology and the availability of online historical information are shaping the belief in marriage not only by men but also by humans of all social classes. In the future, marriage is for exploring by allowing people freedom of expression but ensuring human logic and natural law and order are obeyed.
