Every lady in their periods understands the word period leakage. Period leakage is when the period product one is using allows unnecessary flow. Most period leaks happen at night. Sometimes it happens during the day when someone is unaware she was to have her period at a certain time or when the menstrual product being used is full and can’t hold blood any longer. Period leakage is the worst thing that can ever happen to you during your period. It is something you should always anticipate. You can use a period tracker to monitor your flow.
A few weeks ago, I saw my cousin using two pads in order to lengthen the pad and cover most of her butt, to avoid leakage. As for me, I place a cloth on my sheet to avoid leakage on my bedsheet. There are several things we do to avoid staining our clothes during periods.
Every time I wake up at night, I must check whether I have a leak or not. The moment you realize blood is on your sheet, your sleep stops. You feel disappointed. All you want to do is replace your sheet with a clean one and by the time you are done, you will have to force yourself to sleep (so much time spent).
Women who wet their beds at old age, days they are having periods must be the worst days of their lives. I was a victim and I know how it feels. It is awful when a lady is on her period and at the same time wets her bed. That’s a double tragedy- very gross. You wouldn’t wish to be one. When you wet your bed, both blood and urine will be on you and your sheets. Ironically, the moment you finish releasing your last drop of urine, you wake up. When that happens, you’ll want to wash everything in the middle of the night because the smell that comes with the combination is unbearable, besides, the place is too uncomfortable to sleep on. It’s even terrible when the bed isn’t yours. Maybe you went for a sleepover, thinking it’s been days you wet your bed, so you trust yourself that it won’t happen, only to find your bed wet. In such a situation, you have nothing to do so you wait until morning. You will have to stay in the wet bed until everyone wakes up, then you confidently ask for a bucket and water to clean up.
Wetting the bed is so embarrassing. I wouldn’t wish anyone to be one unless you are a child(my story will be here soon).
There are things you can do to avoid period leakage at night. See the list below.
- Use period panties to absorb extra blood when wearing a pad.
- Ensure you sleep in a good position to avoid interfering with the right pad position.
- Use a tampon or a menstrual cup which have minimal leaks.
- Change your tampon, menstrual cup, or pad before you sleep.
- Wear a tight night short or two panties to help position the pad.
- You can wear two pads for good coverage in order to avoid leakage.
- Use bedsheets you aren’t fond of. Those that are unattractive and make sure it’s dark in color and easy to wash off stains from.
